A credit to Uralla Rotary Club

One thing Heather and I see in our travels are Rotary Park. It is a good idea to slip by your towns and check the signage and that all is in good condition..... It is the face of Rotary in your town.

One of the privileges of my job as Governor us to meet up with the wonderful young exchange students

Emily Nohr from Denmark. There is a prize if you can pronounce her surname...... To her satisfaction. She is hosted by Bellingen if you want to have a go
If you are not hosting a student but would like to"borrow"one....
Contact a club that is hosting and ask to have a visit by the student or perhaps just as a guest speaker in your weekly meeting...
But invite some students from your local high school.

What do you think this does to the average age of Dorrigo Rotary Club

With two members in their 90's and now seven under thirty five. I have asked the club to do some maths and let us all know the average before and after last nights meeting

Coffs Harbour Daybreak check out the Shelterbox

Not sure why but everyone seems to be smiling. I'm sure that when used as overseas aid the recipients too would be happy.
If you would like to show your community a box contact REG Pierce International Services Director. Consider involving some school students in helping raise money for a box. All boxes are numbered so you can track where it is deployed.

Woolgoolga's Rotarian of the year 2011-12

Brian bees

Attached is a photo of Karen Sedgwick being awarded her plaque as Rotarian of the Year (2011-12) by past President Norm Michener.  Woolgoolga Club makes this award each year to a deserving member. Karen was youth director for the club during the year and was very active in that capacity, particularly by initiating a new club scholarship to assist local students with training, skill development and leadership programs they would otherwise not be able to afford.  She also organised an Africa night to raise funds to contribute to Rotary support during the Horn of Africa disaster during the year.  She involved a local refugee Ethiopian family who plan eventually to open a restaurant and they prepared a wonderful African meal; there was an African drum group and members of the local refugee community from Ethiopia danced the night away with other Woolgoolga locals. $2000 was raised on the night and the refugee families said it made them feel a genuine part of the community (in fact they asked if Rotary could do one every month!!!). Karen is President elect for the club for 2013-14.
